Users access athlete registration by selecting the “Register a patient” icon on the landing page. Enter the required information to create a new record for the given athlete.

If, during registration, a similar athlete already exists in the system (first name, last name and gender), then this record is suggested to the user. Selecting this athlete’s record will direct the user to the athlete’s landing page.

If no duplicate record is identified then the user may confirm the demographic information. Selecting “Confirm” directs the user to the athlete’s landing page.

Some of the values during registration are mandatory; if a user attempts to proceed without completing this mandatory data, the fields are highlighted in red and the user must complete them to move forward.

From the Register a patient page under the Gender field, Unknown option has been added.

On the birth date page, the user may either enter the specific day, month and year of the athlete's birthday, or if this is unknown, enter the estimated years. If the "estimated years" field is used, the the system stores the birthday as "~1/1/XXXX" where XXXX is calculated based on the persons's age. This can be distinguished from a person who was born on January 1 of a given year because estimated ages are displayed with a proceeding tilde (~).
